Violet Who?

Steve Baker started the band, Violet Fane, in 2000 after being involved in a string of different projects, which ranged from original folk-rock to '30's jazz. Drawing their influences from Dylan, The Stones, The Beatles (just to name fewer than a few),they have recently released their debut CD, Gallery of Hearts. The six song EP has been warmly received, showing strong local as well as national sales. Steve Baker writes the songs and plays guitar. Nadine Henry sings and Steve's dad plays bass on 21st Century P.O. Blues and My Life of Circles. Kudos to Joe Clapp for a great engineering job. Many other talented local players helped out as well.

Where'd Ya Get the Name?

Violet Fane is a character in a poem published in 1838 in a book entitled The Token. The name just sort of captures the mood of the music.

"One breath he drew of agonizing pain,
And sank upon the corse of Violet Fane."
